PS#5 Mission Statement

Our mission at the Dr. Michael Conti school is to ensure that all children; regardless of race, socio-economic class, language, or learning diversity have equal access to all educational opportunities. We believe that all children can learn and be successful in a nurturing and productive environment where they feel safe and are motivated to learn. We believe in cultivating an academically rigorous learning environment that develops 21st century skills: critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Through our Dual Language program, we seek to promote greater cognitive development as students learn a second language thereby becoming more globally and culturally aware. We also believe in order to educate the whole child, as a school family we share the burden for modeling and teaching our students the importance of empathy, compassion, and civic responsibility. Finally, our mission is to continually foster and maintain close, collaborative and productive partnerships between teachers, parents, and the community to ensure our students’ successful academic, social, physical, and emotional development.
